1) Where did the name “Nuddy Bar” come from?
Nuddy Bar is the name of a dessert that I make when I really want cookies or candy but feel guilty about eating junk food :’P. It’s basically a baked bar made from peanut butter, almond flour, shredded coconut, maple syrup, eggs, and semi-sweet chocolate chips … I’ll post the recipe and pictures one of these days. Since it’s easier to pronounce nutty as “nuddy,” that’s what I ended up calling the bars. When I was deciding on a name for my YouTube channel, I wanted to name it something fun and silly, and since I / my videos are a bit nuddy, it seemed appropriate.
2) What equipment and software do you use for your YouTube videos?
I use a Canon 60D DSLR (Canon 50mm f/1.8 and Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 lenses), Canon Rebel SL1 DSLR (Canon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 lens), and Canon PowerShot ELPH 300HS for filming, Zoom H1 Handy Recorder and Rode VideoMic Pro for recording audio, Adobe Creative Suite for graphic design and photography, Audacity for editing audio, and Final Cut Pro for editing video. For greenscreen, I use bright green and blue bristolboard ($1 per 22×28″ piece) from Dollarama.
3) Did you major in film or photography?
I actually did my university degree in Life Sciences at Queen’s University and worked in pharmaceuticals and health research for a few years. In January 2013, I decided I wanted to do more creative work full-time, which I had been doing on a freelance basis on and off since university. I now work as a freelance graphic designer, photographer, and videographer in Toronto, specializing in Asian events and creative short films.
4) Are you Asian? How old are you?
Yes, I’m Asian — Chinese-born Canadian. I’m married, which is why my last name isn’t Asian. “WHAT?! YOU’RE MARRIED?!” Yep. But I didn’t get married really young, if that’s what you’re thinking :’P When people guess my age, they usually underguess by 5-10 years.
